In my work, I work as a client relation manager, my job is to maintain my team and speak with the clients explaining how me and team can grow their business. It is ironic that I don’t know what is my business (on this EARTH) but I advise clients on how they need to hire me to grow their business. It’s like, you have money, but you don’t know how to manage the money. I on the other hand, who has no money, know better than you how you should handle your money.
However, conventionally, in client meetings, we talk over Zoom call, Google Meet, or Skype. And we talk about how their business is doing now, how we can do well. As an advertising guy, my job is to sell our services.
I have been in many meetings over the last few years. Most of the clients start the call, and we keep talking about business, sales, advertising, bla bla bla. Clients do not care about what time is it in my time zone, is midnight or day, if we are well or sick, we just keep selling businesses.
But, on the last day, an epic thing happened in a client meeting. I was a bit distressed with something personal. While on the call with the client, she was explaining how much sales she wanted; suddenly and unconsciously, I took a long sigh. Yes, a sigh on the meeting.
Now, normally no clients would pay attention to that. But SHE did! The moment I took the sigh, she stooped and said:
Jahid, you took a long sigh, is everything Okay on your side? If you’re not feeling well, we can do this later maybe.
Now, that was very uncalled for. I did not even know that I took a sigh and a very long sigh! It was unconscious.
So, her question caught me by surprise; I mumbled and said, yes, I’m fine, we can go ahead, no issues at all.
So that is the story, I know it’s no big news. But somehow, her paying attention to the person who was literally trying to sell a service to her, made me feel overwhelmed.
Who knows, if a sigh is really just a sigh or anything else!
For today, calling this blog an end, remembering – Dooley Wilson – As time goes by.
You must remember this
A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh
